Prof. Marc Cohen

RMIT University Health Innovations Research Institute, Australia
Chair of the Australasian Spa and Wellness Association

A world-renowned authority in holistic health and wellness, Dr. Cohen is an expert advisor to the Australian Therapeutic Goods Administration’s Complementary Medicine Evaluation Committee and sits on the advisory board of many national and international associations, including the International Research Center for Healthy Ageing and Longevity. Dr. Cohen has held the responsibility of organising eight International Holistic Health Conferences, has served as Chair of the Organization Committee for the First World Congress on Chinese Medicine, and has acted as Temporary Advisor to the World Health Organization. He has also developed the world’s first Master’s Degree programme in Wellness. Dr. Cohen is a Global Spa Summit Board Member.


Robert Hecker

Managing Director - Horwath HTL, Singapore

Robert oversees the Asia-Pacific territory of Horwath HTL, the Hotel, Tourism and Leisure consulting speciality group of Crowe Horwath International, with offices in Tokyo, Beijing, Shanghai, Hong Kong, Kuala Lumpur, Singapore and Jakarta. With Horwath HTL since 1988, he has developed an extensive background and expertise in the region’s developing hotel and tourism industries through his involvement in the planning and analysis of more than 400 projects located throughout the Asia-Pacific region. 

Robert has amassed over 35 years of experience including work in hotel operations with Pacific Plaza Hotels at various properties in northern California, and conducting market and financial analyses for hotels, resorts, cruise ships, convention centres, conference centres and restaurants while with Laventhol and Horwath in San Francisco. 

He is also a frequent speaker at industry related conferences around the region, and has published numerous research articles in regional industry publications.


Prof. Gerry Bodeker

Oxford University Medical School, UK

Professor Gerry Bodeker is a Harvard-trained public health specialist who has done work on traditional and complementary medicine for a number of UN agencies, including WHO and the World Bank.

He has published extensively and is Editor-in-Chief of the World Health Organization Global Atlas of Traditional, Complementary and Alternative Medicine (2005). He is a co-founder, and currently Senior Editor, of the Journal of Alternative & Complementary Medicine and serves on the editorial boards of several related journals, including the Journal of Ayurveda and Integrative Medicine and the Chinese Journal of Integrative Medicine.

Working in the field of wellness, Prof. Gerry Bodeker, in partnership with GoCo, led an Oxford research team on a Qatar Foundation project documenting Wellness Traditions of the Islamic World. He also worked with Malaysian colleagues to author the book: Health & Beauty from the Rainforest: Malaysian Traditions of Ramuan (2009). He is co-editor of the well-received textbook: Understanding the Global Spa Industry (2008) and is currently working on a 2nd edition of this. He has served as an advisor on wellness programming in Asia to Four Seasons resorts in Bali, Thailand and Malaysia and to the Mandarin Oriental in Thailand. He is Senior Advisor to the multiple award-winning Bali wellness destination, Fivelements.

He is a Board Member of Oxford Project Southeast Asia and is currently working with colleagues at Stanford University, USA, and with the United Nations University in Japan, on a project on Asian traditional diets in the prevention of lifestyle-related diseases. 


David Keen

CEO - QUO Global, Thailand

A leading brand strategist for the hospitality and tourism industries, David Keen has been published and interviewed in dozens of publications and is a regularly featured speaker at conferences, tradeshows and professional events. 

Born in London and educated in New York at Cornell University’s School of Hotel Administration, David followed his career in London and the United States with a move to Hong Kong, working as a travel writer and editor, travelling widely in the region as well as globally, and developing a network of close contacts with the world’s most talented photographers, writers and travel professionals. 

Leveraging over two decades of industry experience and a growing network of key contacts, QUO channels this collected expertise into visionary work for a portfolio of distinguished clients.


Matthew Allison

Founder - Space Concepts Ltd., Taiwan

In 2005, Matthew founded SPACE Yoga/Wellness – Taiwan’s premium fitness chain. SPACE is known in Taiwan as a pioneering yoga/wellness brand with strong ties to celebrity and Taiwanese culture. SPACE has over 300,000 classes attended each year, and has trained more yoga teachers than any other yoga or fitness organisation.

Matthew has a long-standing commitment to bringing innovative fitness concepts to Asia. Matthew’s latest concept, that combines fitness and music, will open in April 2015. He has been practicing yoga and pranayama for over 10 years and is a registered yoga teacher with The Yoga Alliance.

Before bringing SPACE to Taiwan, Matthew was based in Hong Kong for five years as the President & CEO of EMI Music Asia-Pacific, Australia & New Zealand.  Prior to that, he lived in Taiwan for six years, and founded Sony Music in Taiwan and China. At Sony, he held the position of Managing Director & VP, Greater China.

Matthew also has over five years of banking and consulting experience with JP Morgan Chase (Manufacturers Handover Trust), American Express and Booz Allen Hamilton. 

Fluent in Mandarin Chinese, Matthew graduated from the Lauder Institute, earning an MBA from Wharton and a Masters in International Affairs, with a focus on Asian studies, from the University of Pennsylvania. Prior to his advanced studies, he received a Bachelor’s degree from Connecticut College with a double major in Economics and Chinese.


Martin Palleros

Founder - TIERRA Design, Thailand

Born and raised in Argentina, Martin Palleros completed his Architecture degree in Buenos Aires before pursuing his Landscape Architecture Master's degree in Florida, USA. He started his work experience at The SWA Group in the USA before embarking on his journey to Singapore where he founded TIERRA Design in 1992 and never looked back. Martin has over twenty-five years experience in architecture and landscape architecture particularly in luxury hotel, resort and residential projects. His design inspiration is reflected in all TIERRA Design's projects. He is director of the firm and is currently based in Bangkok after operating out from his Perth office for about ten years.

TIERRA is a design-oriented firm specialising in architecture, landscape architecture and urban planning. It aims at providing a distinctive architecture that references place and culture with modern sensibilities. It sees design as a means of heightening levels of consciousness towards nature and life itself. It seeks to integrate buildings, landscape and the environment holistically. TIERRA’s projects are spread throughout Australia and Asia such as China, Singapore, Malaysia, India, Indonesia, Thailand.


Dr. Christopher Jensen

Managing Director - Trifermed London Ltd., UK

Born in Geneva, Switzerland, Dr. Jensen grew up in the United States and Spain. Dr. Jensen completed undergraduate, pre-medical and postgraduate education at New York University and Harvard University. He then came to the United Kingdom to complete his medical training at St Georges School of Medicine. He was awarded the degree of Doctor of Medicine, and inducted into the Gold Humanism Honor Society. Prior to medical school, Dr. Jensen worked in investment banking for JP Morgan Securities and Deutsche Bank Securities.

Dr. Jensen has a keen special interest in the practice of personalized or “precision” medicine and its integration with complementary and holistic wellness and proper physician led exercise and nutrition programs. This also includes cosmetic medicine and surgery and the use of adipose derived stem cells in both cosmetic and wound healing procedures. Dr. Jensen currently works in both Surgery and Emergency Medicine in the United Kingdom. He was awarded the Association of Clinical Pathologists Junior Doctors Prize in 2011. Dr. Jensen is also a Police Surgeon, and is trained as a Forensic Medical Examiner. Dr Jensen is the Managing Director of Trifermed London Limited a global life science business consultancy. Dr Jensen was previously the Chief Medical Officer of Metamed, a personalized medicine thinktank funded by the Founders of PayPay, and Skype.

Dr Jensen is bilingual in Spanish and English. He is also conversant in French, Catalan and Portuguese.
